Doing > Getting Done

Published 3 months ago • 1 min read

Hi Reader,

Many of us have this funny habit of focusing on getting DONE with the thing we most want to do. On getting it over with and checking it off the list.

I think it’s more prevalent in our lives than we realize.

We make plans to:

  • Read a book
  • Pray
  • Do a math lesson
  • Finish a unit in our curriculum

We feel accomplished when we finish a book, of course. But then somehow along the way, we start to prioritize just that—finishing books—rather than the reading itself.

But the reading itself is where all the good stuff happens.

In the newest episode of the RAR Podcast, I'm talking about how when it comes to the most important things in our homeschools, the point is the doing, not the getting done.

In this episode, you'll hear:

🧶 🧩 What reading, knitting, and doing a jigsaw puzzle have in common

⏳ Why focusing on the doing lets us rest now, instead of waiting for when we’re “done”

🎯How to reframe your homeschool goals to focus on doing

Hi Reader, At my house, summer tends to go one of two ways. Either I over-plan, sign us up for way too many things, and anxiously worry that we're not "squeezing enough out of our summer" OR . . . . . . utter chaos. 🤪 The chaos mode starts as bliss, actually. We ditch the schedules, shake off the shackles of our schooly responsibilities, and relish our new summer freedoms. But by the fourth week, no one's doing any chores, everyone’s got way too much screen time, bedtimes have gone out the...
